Back, finally

It’s been a busy summer. Cold and wet here in Chicagoland, mostly. So much so that our garden is actually living up to this blog’s name. Between travel and bad weather it’s been few and far between days that we’ve been able to get out into the yard and keep up with the weeding!

I think for the first two months we barely had to water the plants at all because it rained so much here.

Now, slowly, the sun has been visiting. But the weeds and the mosquitoes abound. So I will begin posting photos of what we have managed to get into the ground this summer, but please excuse the weeds in the photos.

Let’s start with two photos from early May. We got a head start on a cilantro plant and a couple of jalapeno plants, and then also my beloved bleeding heart plant, which continues to naturalize.
